Wheeler hadn't done well against Lake Station Edison recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Wheeler Bearcats enjoyed a cozy 67-51 win over the Lake Station Edison Fighting Eagles. The Bearcats' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Wheeler's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Marek Barton, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. Barton continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Caleb Mclaughlin was another key player, going 5 for 10 on his way to 17 points.

Wheeler smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in four consecutive contests.

Wheeler's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Lake Station Edison, their defeat was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wheeler and Glenn will compete for holiday cheer at 1:30 p.m. on December 21st. Lake Station Edison will take on Bowman Academy in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
