The St. Andrew's Lions will face off against the Harvest Community Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Andrew's has given up an average of 31.2 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
St. Andrew's came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They took a blow against Robert Toombs Christian Academy, falling 41-8.
Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous four contest, Harvest Community brought some dynamite into their most recent matchup. They walked away with a 41-30 win over Cedar Creek Christian on Thursday. The Warriors' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Harvest Community's win came from a few key players St. Andrew's will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Andrew Posey, who threw for 253 yards and five TDs on only 15 passes, and also rushed for 88 yards on only nine carries. Those 253 passing yards gave him a new career-high. Xavier Crook was Posey's top target, picking up 87 receiving yards and three scores.
Harvest Community didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. Diaje Betts picked up that interception and then proceeded to rub salt in the wound by taking it back the other way for a touchdown. He is on a roll when it comes to interceptions, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
St. Andrew's has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season. Harvest Community's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-5.
Friday's contest might be decided in the trenches. St. Andrew's has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 154.3 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Harvest Community, though, as they've been averaging only 86.7 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?
Everything came up roses for St. Andrew's against Harvest Community when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 41-7 win. In that matchup, the Lions amassed a halftime lead of 35-7, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
