MaxPreps continues to add to its collection of high school sports record books with the addition of boys basketball record books for all 50 states.
The records include familiar names like Kobe Bryant and Wilt Chamberlain in Pennsylvania, LeBron James in Ohio, Zion Williamson in South Carolina, Allen Iverson in Virginia and Trae Young in Oklahoma. And many, many more.
The record books also include high school legends like Greg Procell in Louisiana, "King" Kelly Coleman in Kentucky and Damon Bailey in Indiana. They include every 3,000-point scorer, every player with over 100 points in a game and thousands more.
The record books include achievements from over 100 years ago, like Jim Crowley's 95-point game back in 1906, to the recent crowning of Jason Crowe Jr. of Inglewood as California's all-time leading scorer with 4,684 points.
Sources include state associations record books, coaches association record books, LuckyShow.org, MaxPreps leaderboards and independent sites like Bob Springer's Texas High School Basketball, Cal-Hi Sports Record Book and Almanac, Minnesota High School Basketball Records and various newspaper articles retrieved from Newspapers.com
Some of the record books are more complete than others. While the Louisiana, Texas and Kentucky record books have close to 100 entries each, others, like Hawaii, Delaware and Maryland, have much fewer. That's where you come in. Any fan who knows of records that should be added, please contact us at
kevinaskeland65@gmail.com.
The record books can regularly be found on the MaxPreps National High School
Record Book. The link can be found on the Boys Basketball drop-down menu at the top of the page. The state record books can be found within the landing page at the bottom.
