The Williams Field Black Hawks entered their tilt with the Higley Knights with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. Williams Field walked away with a 52-43 win over Higley on Wednesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Williams Field also won the last time the pair played last Friday.
Williams Field got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Latoya Brooks out in front who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds. Brooks has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Savanah Horotn, who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds.
Higley's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cadence Murdough, who scored nine points along with 15 rebounds and six blocks. Murdough is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Taliaferro, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Williams Field has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. As for Higley, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-7 record this season.
Williams Field will be playing in front of their home fans against Casteel at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Casteel is looking to tack on another W to their six-game streak on the road. As for Higley, they will square off against Mountain Pointe at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mountain Pointe will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 215th, while Higley is ranked 60th).
