St. Catherine's has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. After both having extra time off, the St. Catherine's Saints and the Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot Knights will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 2:00 p.m. on December 28th. Hopefully St. Catherine's is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot in Virginia (St. Catherine's is ranked 109th, while Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot is ranked 307th).
On December 8th, St. Catherine's was beaten by St. Anne's-Belfield 84-34. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points St. Catherine's has scored all season.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot ultimately got the result they hoped for last Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 30-28 win over Grove Christian School. The win made it back-to-back wins for Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot.
Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Erin Maynes, who scored ten points along with three steals. Maynes hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games.
St. Catherine's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-2. As for Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-5.
