Sumner is a perfect 10-0 against Curtis since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Spartans will square off against the Vikings at 4:00 p.m. Sumner is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.

Sumner couldn't beat South Kitsap on Wednesday even though they stacked five runs on them in the sixth inning. The Spartans took a 12-9 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wolves.

Naya Alastra made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. That home run was her first of the season. Anna Thweatt was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Curtis was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They lost 16-3 to South Kitsap.

Curtis saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sophia Woodall, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run.

Curtis' loss dropped their record down to 2-17. As for Sumner, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-5.

Curtis' hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Sumner has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Curtis, though, as they've been averaging only 2.7 strikeouts. Will Sumner keep running through batters, or will the Vikings buck the trend?

Everything went Sumner's way against Curtis in their previous matchup back in March, as Sumner made off with a 14-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
