Capital City is 0-4 against Helias since October of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Capital City Cavaliers will face off against the Helias Crusaders at TBD. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Capital City comes in on five and Helias on six.
Capital City extended their postseason success on Friday against Camdenton. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Lakers and snuck past 38-35. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Jaylen Thomas went supernova for Capital City, rushing for 184 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 8.8 yards per carry. Thomas was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 69 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Phillip Richardson, who gained 135 total yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Helias was able to grind out a solid win over Washington on Friday, taking the game 38-28. Given Helias' advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri football rankings (they are ranked 15th, while Washington is ranked 95th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Their wins bumped Capital City to 8-3 and Helias to 9-1.
Capital City might still be hurting after the 43-17 defeat they got from Helias in their previous matchup back in September. Can Capital City avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
