Even though the Marion-Franklin Red Devils have not done well against the Briggs Bruins recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Marion-Franklin sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 65-62 win over Briggs. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Marion-Franklin has posted yet this season.
Terry Black continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 26 points and ten rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tito Glass, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Marion-Franklin has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-6 record this season. As for Briggs, they bumped their record down to 4-10 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marion-Franklin won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Columbus International at 7:00 p.m. on January 17th. Hopefully Columbus International focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Tuesday. As for Briggs, they will head out on the road to square off against West at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
