The La Marque Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a 42-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sweeny. La Marque has struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as their contest on Friday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Sweeny can attribute much of their success to Shaylee Robinson, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kayley Woods, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
La Marque has not been sharp recently as the team's lost ten of their last 11 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-19 record this season. As for Sweeny, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-10.
