Basketball Recap: Galva Piles Up the Points Against Depue

While Galva didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-21), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They took their game on Thursday with ease, bagging a 69-36 victory over the DePue Little Giants. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Galva's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Blake Stahl led the charge by going 5 for 10 on his way to 12 points in addition to six assists and three steals. That's the most assists Stahl has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Reid Harris, who made all 5 shots he took to post 11 points and six boards.

Galva smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in seven consecutive contests.

Galva is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.1 points per game. As for DePue, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.

Galva and Amboy will face off at 3:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Galva is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.9 points per game this season. As for DePue, they will venture away from home to square off against Wethersfield at 11:30 a.m. on January 4, 2025.
