First Academy is 1-9 against Trinity Christian Academy since March of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. First Academy will take on Trinity Christian Academy at 3:00 p.m. First Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11 runs per game this season.
On Friday, First Academy beat Bell Creek Academy 6-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.
The team relied heavily on Collin Herrell, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Jonathan Scouten also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Trinity Christian Academy waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They never let the Patriots get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won eight contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Reilley Oglageo was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one double.
In other batting news, Richaun Amaro was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-3. He has become a key player for Trinity Christian Academy: the team is 5-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-10 otherwise. Braden Flores was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Trinity Christian Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are 6-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
First Academy's record is now 10-4. As for Trinity Christian Academy, they picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 8-12.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. First Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Trinity Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
First Academy might still be hurting after the 8-1 defeat they got from Trinity Christian Academy in their previous meeting last Friday. Can First Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
