The South Beloit Sobos are taking a road trip to take on the Schaumburg Christian Conquerors at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in South Beloit's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three matches.
South Beloit will bounce into Tuesday's contest after beating Alden-Hebron, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Sobos blew past the Green Giants 10-0 on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Sobos, who have now won four games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Cesar Alfaro made a splash while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, South Beloit let Zane Hagstrom and Jacob Wilhite run wild. Hagstrom went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Wilhite got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs Wilhite has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Gage Pasiecznik, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one run.
South Beloit always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Schaumburg Christian). They came out on top in a nail-biter against Lake Forest Academy on Saturday, sneaking past 11-10. The victory was some much needed relief for the Conquerors as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.
Jake Vandermeir made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off five hits. Vandermeir was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Vander Herman, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Schaumburg Christian is 2-1 when Herman posts two or more stolen bases, but 0-4 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of James Carey, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Schaumburg Christian picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 2-5. As for South Beloit, their record now sits at 9-4.
Schaumburg Christian's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: South Beloit has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .447. It's a different story for Schaumburg Christian, though, as they've only averaged .319. Will they be able to contain South Beloit's hitters?
South Beloit took their victory against Schaumburg Christian in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 11-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Sobos since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
