Illinois Valley had to kick off their season on the road last Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They took their game against Culver 26-16. Junior Elijah Polk, who caught passes for 226 yards and 4 touchdowns, was a major factor in Illinois Valley's success.
Meanwhile, Gold Beach/Pacific couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a hard 6-26 fall.
Illinois Valley's victory lifted them to 1-0 while Gold Beach/Pacific's loss dropped them down to 0-1. Gold Beach/Pacific's offensive line will need to gear up for a tough test against a Illinois Valley defensive front that amassed 5 sacks against Culver, so we'll see if they are up to the task.
