Poudre and Greeley West are an even 4-4 against one another since February of 2015, but not for long. The Poudre Impalas are on the road again on Thursday and play against the Greeley West Spartans at 6:30 p.m. on December 7th. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Poudre pushed their score all the way to 56 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 70-56 bruising from Vista Ridge.
Despite the defeat, Poudre got a solid performance out of Luke Foster, who scored 17 points along with 6 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Finn Hoffman, who scored 6 points.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Greeley West, who are still winless after their fourth contest. They took a 62-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of Northglenn on Tuesday. Greeley West found out winning isn't easy when you drain nine fewer threes than your opponent.
The losing side was boosted by Andrew Zepeda, who scored 16 points. The contest was his fourth in a row with at least ten points. River Ortiz was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
The losses dropped Poudre to 0-3 and Vista Ridge to 1-2.
Keep an eye on the arc in Thursday's game: Poudre have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 40.3% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Greeley West, though, as they've only made 31.3% of theirs this season. Given Poudre's sizeable advantage in that area, Greeley West will need to find a way to close that gap. Come back here after the game to get analysis of the match and other basketball content.
Poudre didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Greeley West in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, but they still walked away with a 72-67 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Poudre since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
