The Hartsville Red Foxes had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They rang in the new year with a 62-50 win over Lee Central on Saturday.
Leading Hartsville to victory were EJ Smith and Dorian Knowles. Smith scored 14 points along with five rebounds, while Knowles scored 12 points along with seven rebounds. Smith continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Zaries Huggins, who scored four points.
Lee Central's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jamisen Wilds, who scored 12 points. The contest was Wilds' fourth in a row with at least ten points. Demarius Gregg was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Hartsville's win bumped their record up to 3-9. As for Lee Central, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hartsville will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Myrtle Beach at 7:30 p.m. on January 10th. Lee Central and Mullins will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. One thing working in Mullins' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matchups.
