The Woodland Wolverines were the 42-39 winner over the Orangeburg-Wilkinson Bruins when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Woodland was the victim of a tough 41-19 defeat at the hands of Orangeburg-Wilkinson on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Woodland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 147th, while Orangeburg-Wilkinson is ranked 17th).
Woodland's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Carmen Allen, who scored 6 points.
Among those leading the charge was Jenia Haigler, who scored 9 points along with 7 assists and 7 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Joliyah Robinson , who scored 15 points.
Woodland's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Orangeburg-Wilkinson, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.
Woodland will face off against Colleton County at 11:40 a.m. on Sunday. Orangeburg-Wilkinson won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Stall at 5:00 p.m. on November 26th. Hopefully Stall focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Saturday.
