The Andrews Wildcats''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They fell 27-20 to Murphy. Andrews gained 60 more yards on the day, but it was Murphy that made the best of use of them.
Andrews' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Dalton Rose, who rushed for 144 yards. Rose is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played.
Hunter Stalcup had a dynamite game for Murphy, rushing for 199 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.5 yards per carry. Stalcup's longest rush was for an incredible 80 yards.
Andrews has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season. As for Murphy, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Andrews will square off against Hayesville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Murphy will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Cherokee at 7:30 p.m. on October 27th. Cherokee will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 251st, while Murphy is ranked 111th).
