LaBelle and Moore Haven are an even 3-3 against one another since February of 2015, but likely not for long. The Cowboys/Cowgirls will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against the Terriers at 6:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
LaBelle's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over Clewiston. The win continues a trend for the Cowboys/Cowgirls in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won eight in a row.
Amaiah Meyer and Brooke Black did most of the damage at the plate: Meyer scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4, while Black scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. That's the most hits Meyer has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Braulynne Flores, who scored two runs while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.
LaBelle always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Clewiston only posted an OBP of .312.
Meanwhile, Moore Haven hadn't done well against Vero Beach recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Terriers blew past the Indians 7-1. Considering the Terriers have won five games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Charisma Micco spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Preslynn Baker, who fired off two home runs, four RBI, and one double while going 3-for-4. Those home runs were her first of the season. Brooklyn Sergent was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Moore Haven's victory bumped their record up to 9-4. As for LaBelle, their win bumped their record up to 7-9.
LaBelle came up short against Moore Haven in their previous meeting back in February, falling 11-8. Will the Cowboys/Cowgirls have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
