The Platte Canyon Huskies will head out on the road to face off against the Clear Creek Golddiggers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Platte Canyon focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Thursday.
Platte Canyon had to start their season on the road , and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They took a 41-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of Colorado Springs School. Platte Canyon has struggled against Colorado Springs School recently, as their matchup on Thursday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Platte Canyon's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Alexander Thoms, who scored 9 points along with 7 rebounds, and Max Flores who scored 9 points along with 6 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Clear Creek came up short against Vail Christian on Saturday and fell 56-43. Clear Creek has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Tyler O'Brien, who scored 20 points along with 4 steals. He scored a full 46.5% of Clear Creek's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zephyr Schuessler, who scored 14 points.
Platte Canyon's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Clear Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.
Platte Canyon barely slipped by Clear Creek in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, winning 39-38. The rematch might be a little tougher for Platte Canyon since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
