On Wednesday, Harlan didn't have too much trouble with Warren on the road as they won 64-48. Given Harlan's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 95th, while Warren is ranked 591st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Harlan found their leader in underclassman Josiah Jones, who scored 18 points. Jones has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. Zakee Thompson was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Meanwhile, Stevens was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Wednesday as they fell 69-63 to Jay.
Harlan is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season. As for Stevens, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-12.
Harlan skirted past Stevens 83-80 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Stevens' Amare Parham, who dropped a double-double on 30 points and 16 rebounds.
