Softball Recap: Fredericksburg Christian Snags Seventh Win in Last Eight Games

Fredericksburg Christian won against Colonial Beach last Thursday with 19 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Eagles' pitcher stepped up to hand the Saint John Paul the Great Catholic Wolves a 19-0 shutout. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by eight runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Rylie Johnson, who fired off two home runs, three stolen bases, and seven RBI while going 4-for-4. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Layton Trible was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.

Johnson wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Fredericksburg Christian lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Fredericksburg Christian is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Saint John Paul the Great Catholic, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fredericksburg Christian will host Miller School of Albemarle at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Saint John Paul the Great Catholic, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Oakcrest at 4:00 p.m.
