With a playoff game on the line, the Naples Golden Eagles rose to the challenge on Friday. They breezed by Port Charlotte at home to the tune of 63-33. Considering Naples has won eight games by more than 23 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Shawn Simeon was his usual excellent self, rushing for 387 yards and seven touchdowns while picking up 12.9 yards per carry. Simeon's longest rush was for an incredible 82 yards. Kensley louidor Faustin also deserves a mention for his punt return touchdown.
When it comes to explaining why Port Charlotte lost, one person who can't be blamed is Edd Guerrier. Despite the final result, he rushed for 210 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.5 yards per carry, and also picked up 44 receiving yards. Ifeany (Ike) Perry was another key contributor, rushing for 78 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries.
The victory was the third in a row for Naples, bringing their record for this year to 10-2. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 35.67 points. As for Port Charlotte, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-3.
Naples' homestand continues as they prepare to take on Dunbar at 7:30 p.m. on November 24th. The last three games Dunbar has played have been within five points, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. Port Charlotte does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
