Despite the defeat, Crisp Academy saw an underclassman step up: Wilk Stephens scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and five blocks. Another player making a difference was Reese Reed, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, Covenant Academy pushed their score all the way to 66 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 87-66 walloping at the hands of Central Fellowship Christian Academy. Covenant Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-26.
Despite the defeat, Covenant Academy had strong showings from Ben Mcghee, who scored 28 points, and Ryan Stevens, who scored 18 points along with nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mcghee has scored all season. Blake Bartow was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Even though they lost, Covenant Academy were working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Crisp Academy has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for Covenant Academy, they bumped their record down to 4-11 with that loss, which was their seventh straight at home.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Crisp Academy have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 37.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Covenant Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 28.9 rebounds per game.
