Softball Recap: Make It 12 in a Row for Glenwood

Glenwood came tearing into Monday's game with 11 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Pleasant Plains Cardinals with a sharp 13-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Titans, who have now won 13 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Irie Lohrenz was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Lohrenz was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Hope Gilmore was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Bobb, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Glenwood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pleasant Plains only posted a batting average of .167.

Glenwood pushed their record up to 21-1 with the victory, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Pleasant Plains, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-7-1.

Coming up, Glenwood will square off against Decatur Eisenhower at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Titans are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Pleasant Plains, they will take on North Mac at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
