Redbank Valley is on a nine-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Union is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Redbank Valley Bulldogs will take on the Union Knights/Damsels at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Redbank Valley's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
In what's become a running theme this season, Redbank Valley gave their fans yet another huge victory last Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 71-45 margin over Johnsonburg. Given Redbank Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 80th, while Johnsonburg is ranked 259th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Redbank Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kieran Fricko, who scored 19 points along with five assists. Owen Clouse was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with three steals.
Even though Union has not done well against Keystone recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Union came out on top against Keystone by a score of 41-32.
Hayden Smith was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Union's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Trey Fleming, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and six assists.
Redbank Valley's victory bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Union, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.
Redbank Valley strolled past Union when the teams last played back in January of 2023 by a score of 57-42. Does Redbank Valley have another victory up their sleeve, or will Union turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
