Section 10 recap October 8, 2013
The biggest upset of the week belonged to St. Lawrence Central, who took down 542nd ranked Gouverneur, 38-12.
Franklin Academy was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from seventh to fifth in Section 10. The Huskies beat Tupper Lake 25-24 earlier in the week.
Morgan Stevens threw for 189 yards and 3 touchdowns. He went 10-25 with 0 interceptions.
Mitch Keniston was the best receiver in the league this week as the Lumberjacks lost to Franklin Academy. Keniston racked up 5 receptions for 102 yards. Roger Delair helped Tupper Lake's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 43 yards.
Tupper Lake's Stevens and Keniston have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 5-10 quarterback Stevens has thrown for 910 yards this season, while Keniston has 23 catches for 477 yards. JP Reagan from Massena leads the league in rushing with 884 yards.
Fans will be treated to a premier battle in the secondary when Dennis Klossner's team's Keniston goes up against Potsdam's Connor Warden.
Next week's game between the Lumberjacks and the Sandstoners will feature an aerial matchup as Stevens tests his arm against Warden's defensive ability.
A big matchup in Section 10 this week will be when Potsdam takes on Tupper Lake. At the moment, Jim Kirka's team is in first, while the Lumberjacks are in fourth.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, the Sandstoners beat Ogdensburg Free Academy 44-14. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
