Softball Recap: Eight Straight Road Victories for Ridgefield Park

Ridgefield Park entered their tilt with Kearny on Saturday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They never let the Kardinals get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The Scarlets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by seven runs or more this season.

Gabriella Rivera made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Ridgefield Park let Karylle Culala and Tiffany Filipek run wild. Culala went 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Filipek went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That double was Filipek's first of the season. Kaylene Romero was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs.

Ridgefield Park was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .379 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Ridgefield Park pushed their record up to 9-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Kearny, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-5.

Looking ahead, Ridgefield Park will head out to challenge Dwight Morrow at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The Scarlets are facing the Maroon Raiders at the right time seeing as the Maroon Raiders are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Kearny, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Bayonne at 11:00 a.m.
