The Harvest Christian Academy Saints's game last Tuesday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Faustina Academy and snuck past 52-50. This was payback for Harvest Christian Academy, who suffered a 65-64 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Harvest Christian Academy was led to victory by Elijah Cleary and Andy Cumbest. Cleary scored 21 points, while Cumbest scored 21 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Cleary has scored at least a third of Harvest Christian Academy's points.
Faustina Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ben Nelson, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Finn Marsden, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds.
The victory got Harvest Christian Academy back to even at 8-8. As for Faustina Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 10-5.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Lakewood Presbyterian the next time they take the court. Faustina Academy will head out to face Lakewood Presbyterian at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, while Harvest Christian Academy will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
