The Floresville Tigers will be playing in front of their home fans against the La Vernia Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Last Friday, Floresville had to suffer through a rough 45-14 loss at the hands of Jones. Floresville has struggled against Jones recently, as their matchup on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Defeat or not, Floresville got some senior leadership from Daniel Arrellano who rushed for 131 yards on only ten carries and Brandon Castillo who picked up 144 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, La Vernia came up short against Calhoun on Friday and fell 21-14. That means La Vernia has now suffered back-to-back defeats.
Although La Vernia took the loss, they still got scores from Isaiah Cisneros and Keegan Hajek.
Floresville has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season. As for La Vernia, their defeat on Friday dropped their record down to 4-2.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's matchup: Floresville has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 184.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like La Vernia struggles in that department as they've been even better at 219.5 per game. It's looking like Friday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
