The Bishop McCort Crushers will head out on the road to take on the Purchase Line Red Dragons at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Friday, Bishop McCort made easy work of Bishop Guilfoyle and carried off a 13-5 victory. The Crushers haven't had any issues with the Marauders recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
Meanwhile, Purchase Line hadn't done well against River Valley recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Red Dragons blew past the Panthers 14-4.
Rylee Mahaffey made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Mahaffey was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Leah Nelson was excellent, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Julia Matko was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Purchase Line was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .462. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2025.
Bishop McCort's record is now 10-11. As for Purchase Line, their record now sits at 15-3.
Bishop McCort couldn't quite get it done against Purchase Line when the teams last played back in May of 2025 as they fell 7-4. Can the Crushers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
