Basketball Recap: Gulf Pointe Latin Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Christian Cassidy and Dean Fillmore

Gulf Pointe Latin was the 67-54 winner over Aletheia Christian Academy when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The game between the Gulf Pointe Latin Gladiators and the Aletheia Christian Academy Lions didn't end well, with the Gulf Pointe Latin Gladiators falling 54-35. The contest marked the Gladiators' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Gulf Pointe Latin's loss on Thursday came despite strong showings from Dean Fillmore and Christian Cassidy. Fillmore posted 14 points along with seven boards and five steals, while Cassidy had four points and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave Cassidy a new career-high in rebounds.

It was another big night for Kendrick Williamson, who scored 19 points for Aletheia Christian Academy. Kai Klimetz also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Gulf Pointe Latin's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Aletheia Christian Academy, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-4.

Gulf Pointe Latin wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 73-66 win against South Baldwin Christian Academy on the 10th. Aletheia Christian Academy has also already played their next matchup, a 48-43 victory against Lighthouse Baptist Academy on the 10th.
