The Chester Clippers will head out on the road to face off against the ASPIRA Charter Wolves at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Chester will be strutting in after a win while ASPIRA Charter will be coming in after a defeat.
Last Tuesday, Chester narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Academy Park 6-5. The win was just what Chester needed coming off of a 13-0 loss in their prior match.
Larrys Cardona was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off only one hit. Cardona was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing five bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, Brandon Colon was excellent, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, ASPIRA Charter was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 17-13 hit to the loss column at the hands of Glasgow. Both teams can probably skip cardio this week after making that many trips around the bases.
Chester now has a winning record of 2-1. As for ASPIRA Charter, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.
