The Marion County Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight defeat. They were dealt a 54-27 defeat at the hands of Taylor County. Marion County has not had much luck with the Vikings recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Jamaya Crumbley and Valencia Alridge certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Crumbley scored five points along with five rebounds and four blocks, while Alridge scored six points along with two steals. It was the first time this season that Crumbley posted two or more blocks.
Taylor County found their leader in underclassman Jaydah Ford, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Ford is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Alasia Montgomery, who scored nine points.
Marion County now has a losing record at 9-10. As for Taylor County, they pushed their record up to 18-3 with that victory, which was their 22nd straight at home dating back to last season.
Marion County will head out on the road to challenge the Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Greenville is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. As for Taylor County, they will stay at home for another game and welcome the Blue Devils at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. Manchester will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 276th, while the Vikings are ranked 137th).
