The Millard South Patriots had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against Papillion-LaVista on Saturday as Millard South made off with a 57-37 win. The score was close at the half, but Millard South pulled away in the second half with 34 points.
It was another big night for Bernie Anderson, who scored 15 points along with six steals. Those six steals set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Isaac Jensen, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and four blocks.
Several Monarchs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cedric Williams, who scored 12 points along with three steals. Williams also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Garin Maley, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds.
Millard South's win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-7. As for Papillion-LaVista, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.
Millard South and Creighton Prep will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 12th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Creighton Prep presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Millard South in Nebraska (Creighton Prep is ranked 34th, while Millard South is ranked 140th). As for Papillion-LaVista, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Omaha North at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Omaha North will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
