Berlin Brothersvalley has gone 7-2 against North Star recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Mountaineers will head out on the road to square off against the Cougars at 3:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Berlin Brothersvalley has seven straight victories, North Star has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Berlin Brothersvalley came out on top against Rockwood on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run third inning. The Mountaineers blew past the Rockets 12-2. The Mountaineers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by six runs or more this season.
Sam Walker made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Bena Barna was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Bryn Prosser, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Berlin Brothersvalley hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in seven consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when North Star took on Shade on Monday. The Cougars fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 11-9.
Morgan Snyder was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Lexi Swanson was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two RBI.
Berlin Brothersvalley pushed their record up to 9-1 with the win, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for North Star, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.
North Star's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Berlin Brothersvalley has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.6 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for North Star, though, as they've been averaging only 3.1 strikeouts. Will Berlin Brothersvalley keep running through batters, or will the Cougars buck the trend?
Everything went Berlin Brothersvalley's way against North Star in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Berlin Brothersvalley made off with a 19-1 win. Will the Mountaineers repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
