The Greenwood Eagles waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They enjoyed a cozy 69-50 victory over Berea. Given Greenwood's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 38th, while Berea is ranked 160th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Greenwood got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jeremiah Brooks out in front who scored 16 points. Brooks has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Nyjaviese Duncan, who scored ten points along with five steals.
Greenwood has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season. As for Berea, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-10.
Greenwood will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Westside at 7:30 p.m. As for Berea, they will head out on the road to face off against Greenville at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Greenville has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 921 points over their last 14 contests.
