Macomb and Beardstown are an even 3-3 against one another since April of 2015, but likely not for long. The Bombers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Macomb will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.
Macomb had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Quincy Notre Dame on Tuesday. The Bombers put the hurt on the Raiders with a sharp 9-2 victory.
Langdon Lambert spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Emmett Beck, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Macomb's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is undefeated (and 10-13 when he doesn't). Nick Elbe was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
Macomb always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Quincy Notre Dame only posted an OBP of .259.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Beardstown's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They came up short against Illini West, falling 14-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Tigers have suffered since April 9th.
Beardstown saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tannar Riddell, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another was Colby Desollar, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Macomb pushed their record up to 15-13 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Beardstown, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-6-1.
Everything went Macomb's way against Beardstown in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Macomb made off with a 16-6 win. Will the Bombers repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
