The Washington Hatchets waltzed into Thursday's matchup with five straight wins but they left with six. Everything went their way against North Posey as Washington made off with a 57-33 win. The result was nothing new for Washington, who have now won four games by 20 points or more so far this season.
Washington's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Olivia Gilley, who scored 14 points along with nine rebounds. Those nine rebounds set a new season-high mark for Gilley. The team also got some help courtesy of Katie Reed, who scored 18 points.
Despite the loss, North Posey still got an impressive performance from Alyssa Heath, who scored 17 points along with nine rebounds. That's the first time this season that Heath scored 15 or more points.
Even though they lost, North Posey were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Washington pushed their record up to 8-3 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.7 points per game. As for North Posey, they now have a losing record at 3-4.
Washington will head out on the road to face off against Tell City at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Tell City will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 214th, while Washington is ranked 24th). As for North Posey, they will be playing at home against Evansville Reitz at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Evansville Reitz will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line.
