The James F. Byrnes Rebels will be playing in front of their home fans against the Gaffney Indians at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with James F. Byrnes sitting on six straight wins and Gaffney on four.
Even though Boiling Springs scored an imposing 60 points on Thursday, James F. Byrnes still came out on top. James F. Byrnes enjoyed a cozy 78-60 win over Boiling Springs. Given James F. Byrnes' advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh, while Boiling Springs is ranked 141st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Kayzzin McDowell, who scored 21 points along with three steals. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last eight times he's played. Will Fowler was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Gaffney posted their biggest victory since December 12, 2023 on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 70-45 margin over Spartanburg.
Gaffney's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Rickey Littlejohn led the charge by scoring 17 points along with nine rebounds and eight assists. That's the first time this season that Littlejohn pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Markell Hollis, who scored 12 points along with six assists and three blocks.
James F. Byrnes has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season. As for Gaffney, their win bumped their record up to 11-6.
