The Aquin Catholic Bulldogs scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Durand 71-26 at home. Aquin Catholic might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won five contests by 36 points or more this season.
Aquin Catholic found their leader in underclassman Paityn London, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. The matchup was London's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hanna Broge, who scored ten points along with five assists and five steals.
Despite the defeat, Durand had strong showings from Reagan McCallips, who scored nine points along with three steals, and Rhiannon Robertson, who scored two points along with five rebounds. McCallips scored a full 34.6% of Durand's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
The victory (which was Aquin Catholic's third in a row) raised their record to 12-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points per game. As for Durand, they bumped their record down to 5-8 with that loss, which was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Aquin Catholic won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Eastland at 3:00 p.m. on January 6th. Eastland has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Durand, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Dakota at 5:30 p.m. Hopefully Dakota focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Saturday.
