The Union Mine Diamondbacks will take on the Argonaut Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Union Mine has given up an average of 8.1 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Union Mine came up short against Liberty Ranch on Tuesday, falling 13-3. The Diamondbacks haven't had much luck with the Hawks recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Union Mine saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaitlin Munz, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, Argonaut had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Cougars a 5-0 shutout.
The result came thanks to Kendall Baker's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 17 Ks.
On the hitting side, Bri Bowers was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two RBI. AJ Schultz was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double.
Union Mine's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Argonaut, their victory bumped their record up to 7-3.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Union Mine has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 12.5 hits per game. However, it's not like Argonaut struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.3 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Union Mine might still be hurting after the 8-1 loss they got from Argonaut when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Can the Diamondbacks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
