The Cortez Colts will head out on the road to face off against the Marcos de Niza Padres at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Wednesday, Cortez lost to Washington on the road by a decisive 54-40 margin. Cortez has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 51-16, which was the final score in Marcos de Niza's tilt against Mohave on Saturday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Marcos de Niza in their matchups with Mohave: they've now lost three in a row.
Paityn Lutostanski was Marcos de Niza's leading scorer, having posted four points. Lutostanski also led the team in rebounds with eight.
Prescott's win bumped their season record to 0-0 while Cortez's loss dropped theirs to 0-1.
Everything came up roses for Cortez against Marcos de Niza in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 as the team secured a 58-23 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cortez since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
