Lane Tech has gone 9-1 against Lincoln Park recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Champions will look to defend their home field against the Lions at 4:30 p.m. Lane Tech is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.8 runs per game this season.
Lane Tech's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 7-0 margin over Leyden. The Champions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by seven runs or more this season.
The result came thanks to Grace Thornley's shutout, as she gave up just five hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Gianna Phillips was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Segura, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI.
Meanwhile, Lincoln Park was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 13-2 to Payton College Prep.
Eleanor Funke was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Klarissa Cervera also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Lane Tech has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Lincoln Park, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.
Lincoln Park's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Lane Tech has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .477. It's a different story for Lincoln Park, though, as they've only averaged .347. Will they be able to contain Lane Tech's hitters?
