The Bradford Railroaders are taking a road trip to square off against the Fort Recovery Indians at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
Things were looking good for Bradford after they put the first points on the board on Tuesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They lost 10-4 to Milton-Union. The Railroaders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Bradford got a good showing from Chloe Elsner, who pitched 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.
On the hitting side, Hayven Evans was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Chloe Hocker, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Fort Recovery posted their closest victory since April 9, 2024 on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Memorial 6-5. The Indians haven't had any issues with the Roughriders recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Jenna Homan made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Homan was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Homan wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kylie Post, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Ava Grisez was another, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Bradford now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Fort Recovery, their record is now 2-0.
Bradford skirted past Fort Recovery 3-1 when the teams last played back in March of 2021. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bradford since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
