Legacy and Durango are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2018, but likely not for long. The Longhorns will face off against the Trailblazers at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Legacy's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last four matches.
On Tuesday, Legacy made easy work of Cimarron-Memorial and carried off an 18-3 victory. The Longhorns have beaten the Spartans the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Spartans has come to flipping the script.
Elena Rodriguez made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). Rodriguez was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aofia Noa, who scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Madison Castellon was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Legacy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .719. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, Durango lost 25-8 to Clark on Tuesday. The Trailblazers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Durango saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Leiah Biscocho, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Durango's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Legacy, their record is now 11-6.
Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Legacy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .471. However, it's not like Durango struggles in that department as they've averaged .598. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Legacy took their win against Durango when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 22-16 score. Do the Longhorns have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Trailblazers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
