The Morrison Mustangs will venture away from home to square off against the East Dubuque Warriors at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Morrison has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while East Dubuque will arrive with three straight wins.
Morrison is headed into the matchup having just suffered their closest loss since April 14, 2025 on Thursday. They fell just short of Milledgeville by a score of 7-5.
Caylee Bramm put in work no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in walks (zero). She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Peyton Lowery made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one triple. Another player making a difference was Bella Scachette, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, East Dubuque made easy work of West Carroll on Thursday and carried off a 9-1 victory. Considering the Warriors have won seven games by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Morrison, East Dubuque also got a great game from a two-way player: Curin Oberman. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. Oberman has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Natalie Husemann, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Lexy Sheehan was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
East Dubuque's record now sits at 11-6. As for Morrison, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-6.
Morrison was able to grind out a solid win over East Dubuque in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, winning 7-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
