After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Carroll, the Clinton Prairie Gophers were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged Frankfort out 44-41. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Clinton Prairie has posted yet this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Clinton Prairie to victory, but perhaps none more so than Abbey Swan, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Taylor Morgan, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
Vannessa Guardado and Saira Flores certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Guardado dropped a double-double on 26 points and 12 rebounds, while Flores scored two points along with 11 rebounds and two steals. Guardado continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.
Even though they lost, Frankfort smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Clinton Prairie's victory ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-16. As for Frankfort, their defeat was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-19.
Clinton Prairie will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Eastern at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. As for Frankfort, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Southmont at 7:30 p.m. on January 18th. Southmont is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.
