The Lafayette Christian Cougars are on the road again on Monday and plays the Covington Academy Bulldogs on February 12th. Lafayette Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 15 contests -- so hopefully Covington Academy likes a good challenge.
Lafayette Christian pushed their score all the way to 62 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 72-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of Trinity Christian School of Griffin.
Bruno Tellez put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 34 points along with six rebounds and three steals. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last 18 games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Zapata, who scored 16 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Covington Academy and Lafayette Christian squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but sadly Covington Academy had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 75-73. Covington Academy's defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Lafayette Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 16-7. As for Covington Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 9-6.
