Leeds will bounce into Friday's match after beating Mortimer Jordan, who they had gone 1-6 against in their seven prior meetings. Leeds came out on top against Mortimer Jordan by a score of 6-2 on Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Greenwave.
Conner Nelson made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Ty Bedell was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing Four bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, Clay-Chalkville came up short against Gadsden City on Thursday and fell 9-4. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Clay-Chalkville saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nic Youngblood, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4.
Leeds' victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Clay-Chalkville, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.
Clay-Chalkville's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Leeds has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Clay-Chalkville, though, as they've been averaging only 3.9 strikeouts. Will Leeds keep running through batters, or will Clay-Chalkville buck the trend?
