The Miami Vandals will square off against the Superior Panthers at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Miami will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Thursday, then bounced right back against Lincoln Prep on Monday. The Vandals blew past the Lightning 10-3. Considering the Vandals' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
The team relied heavily on Mason Gore, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI. Kayden Harris also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Superior, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Duncan a 9-0 shutout last Monday.
Ryland Duarte made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2025. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.
In other batting news, Brandon Ramirez was excellent, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Antonio Lopez, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Superior hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Duncan struck out 11 times.
Superior's win bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Miami, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-6.
Miami's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's contest. The Vandals have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Superior, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Miami continue to outrun the ball?
